This report untangles the web of applicants, milestone dates and orbital locations, to profile the current status of these systems and the resulting planned and existing capacity in each continental area.  To this we add data on actual and planned government and commercial systems from Asia, Canada and Europe.  The report identifies existing and planned systems serving the Americas, the Asia Pacific and European regions.

Ka-band satellites have been filed with the ITU for over 700 geostationary orbital locations; in some cases there are multiple applicants for one location.  This report matches these locations against capacity already in orbit or under contract, and identifies committed locations and coverage areas, and filings without a current strategic approach.  The report also identifies filings for non-geostationary satellites.

W.L. Pritchard & Co., L.C. has published and contributed to several books, and manuals, regarding terrestrial and space telecommunications:

"Spacecraft Applications of Electric Propulsion" provides spacecraft systems engineers and management the tools to increase useful payload mass and reduce launch costs.  Prepared by W.L. Pritchard & Co., L.C., telecommunications engineering and business consultants, this 176-page manual on the applications of electric propulsion to Earth Orbiting Satellites is a usable engineering reference for LEO, MEO, HEO, and GEO satellites, with up-to-date information on the proper matching of launch vehicles and electric propulsion systems for each mission, and "handover points" to optimize key performance parameters..

Geostationary Satellite Coordination Under ITU Rules

(Coordination Procedures, and Interference Calculations)

The purpose of this publication is two-fold: to provide a clear overview of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) procedures for filing, coordination and registration of geostationary satellites, and to provide a working engineers' handbook for interference calculations, and protection ratios, with technical details and sample problems. This publication includes information regarding the planning of geostationary satellites for broadcasting, fixed and mobile satellite services, the Unplanned bands and the Allotment plans; the Advance publication, Coordination, and Notification procedures, due diligence requirements, and specialized coordination procedures in the Planned bands, and other bands.
