SATELLITE COORDINATION

Federal Communications Commission, International Telecommunication Union, Licensing applications, Inter-system coordination.

Project:

Successfully completed coordination at C, Ku, Ka, S and X bands for fixed satellite and broadcasting satellite operators.

Project:

W. L. Pritchard & Co., L.C. assisted its client in applying to the FCC for a system of LEO satellites using code division multiple access (CDMA). The company was able to demonstrate that CDMA would enable the client to avoid interference at the required system capacity of >50,000 messages at each station, even in the crowded radio spectrum. This robust modulation technique has since been used in military as well as commercial applications.

Project:

For a manufacturer, W.L. Pritchard & Co. summarized government standards and ITU technical recommendations affecting equipment design in different frequency band and regions of the earth.

Project:

For an Asian Pacific satellite venture, W. L. Pritchard & Co., L.C. worked with the satellite manufacturer to complete analyses of requirements (power density, carrier selection) and translated the satellite proposals into the forms required to initiate coordination under ITU procedures.

Project:

For a direct broadcast service provider, W. L. Pritchard & Co., L.C. reviewed and recommended technical parameters to ensure that a digital television satellite system for direct-to-home reception would conform to FCC regulations and the ITU international broadcasting satellite plan. The company then prepared the necessary application appendixes and coordination materials.
